However, while fans were praising De Jong for his goal, his other piece of play during the game stole the show, SportBible reported.
De Jong smartly turned away from former teammate Dani Alves and produced a lung-bursting run through the midfield, leaving all in his wake. He then hit a smart defence-splitting pass outside of his boot to find Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Sadly, Barcelona could not profit from de Jong’s piece of brilliance. De Jong is still considered Manchester United’s number one target, but Chelsea are also monitoring the situation.
Some fans also chanted, ‘Ten Hag is waiting for you at United’ when de Jong first came onto the field. After his display against Pumas, Manchester United fans will be even more desperate for their side to sign de Jong.
