Former Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has registered his first goal for Nacional after re-joining his boyhood club.

The Uruguayan nodded home from a corner kick as his side recorded a 3-0 victory against Rentistas on Saturday, August 6.

Suarez started the game from the bench and was introduced in the game at the start of the second half, substituting Fagundez.

And just thirteen minutes after his introduction, the former Liverpool attacker had the ball in the back of the net from a corner.

After getting on the mark for Nacional, Suárez was on the lookout for more goals for his boyhood club.

But the Uruguayan striker missed from the spot with six minutes left to play after his side was awarded a penalty. The goalkeeper got his guess right and blocked Suarez's spot-kick, denying him a second goal.

Suarez has now scored one goals in two games on his return to Nacional three weeks ago. He played his first game in their 1-0 defeat to Atletico Goianiense in the Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday.

The ex-Atletico Madrid and Liverpool forward was part of the Nacional team between 2001 and 2006, making 27 first-team appearances and scoring 10 goals.

Suarez is Uruguay's all-time top goalscorer and set to compete at his fourth World Cup later this year.

He enjoyed his most successful spell in Catalonia, winning four Spanish league titles and the Champions League in 2015, while he won La Liga again with Atletico in 2021.

Luis Suarez Wishes Darwin Nunez Success at Liverpool With Heartfelt Message

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Luis Suarez has wished his international compatriot Darwin Nunez all the best at Liverpool. Nunez completed a move from Benfica after Liverpool agreed to pay a club-record fee for the striker.

Nunez penned a six-year deal at Anfield and has been tipped for major success by Suarez, who is also a former player of Liverpool.

Liverpool signed Suarez in 2011 from Ajax and he went on to bag 82 goals in 133 appearances, cementing his place as one of the best strikers that the club has ever had. Nunez will be hoping to replicate that stellar form of Suarez.

Messi Sends ‘Good Luck’ Message to Friend Suarez During His Presentation

Paris Saint-Germain livewire Lionel Messi sent a heartwarming message to his bosom friend and ex-Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez following the latter's move to Club Nacional de Football in Uruguay.

Luis Suarez made the sensational return to his boyhood club this summer following the expiration of his deal with Atletico Madrid.

It will be the first time in over a decade that the Uruguayan forward will not be playing in Europe.
