The ex-Ashantigold player spent the last few years plying his trade in Iraq with Al-Kahraba FC and Erbil SC.

And in an interview with Angel TV, the forward disclosed that his mother felt uncomfortable when he told her about his move to the Asian country.

“I think she heard a lot about the war but Iraq is not as scary as we hear in the news. I've enjoyed the few years of my stay.”

Sahfiu Mumuni has a decent spell in Iraq, helping Erbil SC reach the final of the Iraqi Cup.

He is currently unattached and might be making a move in the summer transfer window.

Mumuni is regarded as one of the best forwards during his time in the Ghana Premier League, helping Ashantigold win the 2015 title.

He was also part of Ghana's Black Galaxies that won the 2019 West Africa Football Union Championship, finishing the tournament as top scorer.

Black Galaxies thrash Benin in CHAN qualifiers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana's Black Galaxies have taken a first-leg advantage from their 2023 Championship of African Nations qualifiers after victory over Benin in Cape Coast.

Goals from Hearts of Oak trio Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Mohammed Alhassan and Gladson Awako ensured the Black Galaxies travel to Cotonou in a fortnight time knowing a draw or defeat with a minimum of two goal sees them through to the next stage.

Ghana got off to a great start as Afriyie Barnieh pulled off a great save from Benin's goalkeeper Obasa after driving from 25 yards.
