Sergio Agüero is backing Barcelona to challenge once again for trophies in the coming years.

The former Blaugrana player made the comments after Barca’s signing of Robert Lewandowski and predicted that there would be big things to come from his former side.

The Argentinian forward believes that with their new signings, Barcelona can challenge once again for a Champions League title, Football Espana reported.

“In a new team it is difficult to fight to be Champions of Europe. But I think next year, when the team is more secure, they will have a much better chance,” he said.

As reported by SB Nation, Agüero also believes that Lewandowski will score a lot of goals for his new side. Lewandowski made the move to Camp Nou from Bayern Munich and was unveiled before Barca’s game against Inter Miami.

“Lewandowski is a top class nine. He will provide Barcelona with a lot of goals,” Agüero added.

Barcelona’s first challenge comes in the form of a Spanish derby as they take on Real Madrid.

The two Spanish sides will meet in a friendly game in the United States of America on Sunday, July 24.
