  • Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has moved quickly to put an end to growing reports linking him to a move back to Portugal
  • The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been in the news lately with reports swirling about his potential exit from Old Trafford
  • He has been excused from United's pre-season tour due to 'family issues' as the club prepares for the new season

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally reacted to reports linking him to boyhood club Sporting Lisbon.

Earlier reports backed by pictorial evidence suggested Ronaldo was working on a potential loan move to the Portuguese outfit.

Ronaldo's Range Rover was sighted in the parking lot of Sporting which fuelled claims the Manchester United superstar could be working to secure a loan move back to Portugal.

However, reacting to a post on Instagram by Sport TV, seen by Sports Brief, the Manchester United superstar described the reports as 'fake.'

The 37-year-old is yet to return to Man United’s pre-season training and has been given time off ‘due to personal reasons’.

He has been linked to German giants Bayern Munich, French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, however, all three clubs have opted against acquiring the services of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Ronaldo on the other hand recently posted a picture of himself seriously working out at the gym amid the transfer speculations.

Despite moving swiftly to quash reports linking him to his former club, the Portuguese international has remained silent on his links to Chelsea, PSG and Bayern.

Last season, Ronaldo finished as United's top scorer with 24 goals across all competitions as the Red Devils finished in a disappointing sixth position, 13 points adrift of the top four positions.

Options narrow down for Ronaldo as three clubs reject the chance to sign Man United superstar

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Cristiano Ronaldo’s options continue to grow thinner as the days go by, and it is looking more likely that he will be at Manchester United for the upcoming season.

One year after rejoining the Red Devils, the 37-year-old expressed his intentions of leaving the club in pursuit of Champions League football.

By Friday, July 15, Ronaldo was yet to link up with his teammates, who are currently on preseason tour.
