  • It appears that there could be a u-turn on the cards with regards to Carlos Queiroz, Roger de Sa, and the Egyptian national football team
  • The duo stepped down following The Pharaohs' failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar back in March
  • However, a rumour has emerged that the Egyptian Football Association is trying to convince the Portuguese tactician and his South African assistant to return

Egypt's love affair with South African coaches does not appear to be at an end just yet.

Pitso Mosimane recently vacated his post at Al Ahly. In March, former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Quieroz and his South African assistant Roger de Sa walked away from the Egyptian national team after failing to guide them to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

However, according to iDiski Times, the Portugues tactician and the former Orlando Pirates coach are reportedly being lined up by the Egyptian Football Association to their posts like before.

According to the publication, a source said:

“Egypt are aggressively pursuing Queiroz and De Sa to return. There are three months until the next qualifiers in September, and they hope to convince them to return.”

Senegal has been the bane of Egyptian football in 2022, with the Lions of Teranga defeating the Pharaohs in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final in Cameroon via a penalty shoot-out, as per Goal.

Hardly a month later, the Senegalese reached the global showpiece event at the Egyptians' expense via another penalty shoot-out, with the CAF world cup play-off tie having ended 1-1 over two legs, as was reported by Eurosport.

Carlos Queiroz resigns as Egypt coach after failing to qualify for World Cup

Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz has vacated his post as head coach of the Egyptian national team following his inability to guide the Pharaohs to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

As reported by Sports Brief, Queiroz, who has been a serial face at the global showpiece, had qualified Portugal and Iran for previous World Cups and was hoping to attain a similar feat with the Pharaohs.

However, his World Cup ambitions were ended by familiar foes Senegal in a knife-edge encounter staged at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium.
