Mikel was spotted with a very talented young chap Khalid ‘magic leg’ as they passed the ball to each other.

And after the event, Khalid took to Instagram to celebrate the moment he met with his ‘idol’ who won the Champions League with the English club Chelsea in 2012. Khalid wrote:

“Thanks for the love, support, honour and cash that you gave to me yesterday at Unilag campus field. Thanks @mikel_john_obi."

And speaking on the project, Mikel said as per Sun News:

“It is an opportunity for us to give back to the community, first of all, we have to realise that there is so much talent in this country waiting to be discovered. So with the Back2Base project, we are hoping to help showcase this talent.
“The first edition is starting in Lagos but we hope we can take it around the country subsequently. It is going to be an exciting time for the children not just in football but also in basketball and tennis.”

Mikel gets huge recognition at Chelsea

Meanwhile, John Obi Mikel’s impact at Chelsea is still being celebrated years after departing the Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old has been recognized by the Blues as the youngest player to make 100 appearances for Chelsea in the English Premier League.

The Nigerian reached the milestone when he started for Chelsea in their 2-0 win over Arsenal on February 7, 2010, at age 22 years and 291 days.

Ahmed Musa pleads with Nigerians over new Super Eagles players

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has admitted that Nigerians are still disappointed over the team’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, but assured they will bounce back to winning ways.

Nigeria fought back to defeat Sierra Leone 2-1 in Match Day 1 of the 2023 AFCON qualifier at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The visitors went ahead in the 11th minute courtesy of a flying header by Jonathan Morsay, but Alex Iwobi restored parity five minutes later.
