FootballGhanaian Goalkeeper Mocked After Gabaski Tricks Failed as Orlando Pirates Lose CAF Confederation Cup Final
- Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori tried the famous Mohamed Abou Gabaski strategy during the penalty shootouts against RS Berkane
- The Ghanaian goalkeeper failed to save any of Berkane's five penalties as the South African side lost to the Moroccans
- Fans have taken to Twitter to react to the Ghanaian goalkeeper's performance during the penalty shootouts
Fans of Orlando Pirates and the Ghana national team have taken to Twitter to express their opinions on Richard Ofori's failure to save a single penalty during the defeat to RS Berkane despite pulling the Gabaski trick.
Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabaski became famous for his water bottle strategy during the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon early this year. His tricks of getting names of penalty takers and the directions worked particularly against Ivory Coast.
During the week, Brice Samba of Nottingham Forest pulled off the same tricks during their play-offs semi-final against Sheffield United, and it worked successfully.
However, Richard Ofori could not follow the success pattern of the strategy as Orlando Pirates lost to RS Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup final.
Ofori could only get one direction right despite checking his water bottle each time he went into the post to face a Berkane player.

Richard Ofori did a Gabaski. Had all the penalty data of Berkane on his water bottle but unfortunately didn’t end well

Ghanaian duo Richard Ofori and Kwame Peprah lose CAF Confederation Cup final
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Richard Ofori and compatriot Kwame Peprah were on the losing side as Orlando Pirates lost on penalty shootouts to Morrocan side RS Berkane in the finals of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Ghanaian duo played a pivotal role in ensuring the South African giants reached their first continental finals since 2013, however, their dreams of helping the Buccaneers end their 27-year continental title drought failed to materialize.
In a keenly-contested final staged at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria, ended in a goalless draw in regulation time.
