Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente paid tribute to late midfielder Jody Lukoki at the De Grolsch Veste before their game against Groningen.

Jody Lukoki died on May 9, 2022 at the age of 29.

In an emotional farewell, son of the DR Congo star led the tribute as he walked onto the pitch with the players and fans and friends broke down in tears.

Lukoki was recovering from an injury that kept him out for months before his heartbreaking demise.

The winger started his career from the youth team of Ajax before going on to winning several titles with the Dutch giants.

He later moved to Bulgaria, where he played for Ludogorets but returned to Holland to sign for FC Twente in 2021.

Lukoki represented the Netherlands at youth levels before later deciding to represent the country of his parents DR Congo.

DR Congo midfielder Jody Lukoki dies

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Democratic Republic of Congo winger Jody Lukoki has been confirmed dead at age 29, according to The Sun.

The 29-year-old, who was making progress from a cruciate ligament injury, died on Monday, May 9, 2022.

The Sun reports that the ex-Ajax winger's cause of death is yet to be stated following his shocking demise.

The rugby fraternity is mourning after the tragic death of former Bulls and Springbok player Pedrie Wannenburg in a car accident.

According to reports, Wannenburg was travelling with his family in Texas, United States when he lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash after a high-speed police chase that had nothing to do with him.

As reported by Sport24, local police confirmed that a 16-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the incident. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of Harris County said that the suspect did not pull over after being requested to by police, instead speeding off with the cops in pursuit.
