  • Marcelo and Okumu get minutes in their club's victories in Sweden and Belgium respectively

Kenya midfielder Zech Obiero made his debut for Leyton Orient over the weekend. Obiero started the game and played a full hour as Leyton beat Crawley town 2-0.

The 17-year-old was stoked to have made his debut.

I am thankful to the gaffer for giving me the opportunity. I did not even know I would start, it just happened so fast. I was a bit nervous in the first few touches but the boys helped me a lot and made it easy for me.
It was good. Getting around the pitch is different from youth football and I think I'm just gonna have to adapt to that. I have a lot of hunger and faith. I'm looking forward to pre-season to show them what I can do on the pitch.

Obiero signed his first professional contract in February this year which will tie him to the club till 2024.

Leyton Orient are currently 13th on the log of the English fourth-tier, League Two. They finish their campaign next weekend against Tranmere Rovers.

Marcelo bags another clean sheet in Allsvenskan

In Sweden, Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma kept his fourth clean sheet of the season as his AIK side beat Sundsvall in the Swedish top-flight on Sunday. Marcelo played 81 minutes in the game before Axel Bjonstrom replaced him.

Jordan Larsson powered AIK in front in the 46th minute before setting up Nabil Bahoui to score the second goal. That was AIK's third consecutive win to take them to position three on the log with 12 points.

Similarly in Belgium, Joseph Okumu lasted the whole length of the game to help his KAA Gent side beat Charleroi in the race to qualify for next season’s UEFA Conference League. Gent won 3-1 with a brace from Darko Lemajic and a goal from Michael Ngadeu inflicting enough damage on the opponents.

Olunga vs Rodriguez

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga will square it off with Colombian superstar James Rodriguez in the Asian Champions League round of 16. Al Duhail of Olunga and Al Rayyan of Rodriguez were pit against each other in the matches scheduled for February next year.
