In an announcement by the reigning KPL champions on Monday, April 18, the club said the transfer was agreed upon "after positive talks."

"We would like to confirm that skipper Eugene Asike has left the club following the positive talks on a move to Swedish side IF Karlstad Fotboll," Tusker FC said in a statement posted on the club's official website.
"Asike’s last match for Tusker was the FKF Premier League tie against Vihiga Bullets in Nairobi where he, unfortunately, picked up an injury on his nose that required a minor surgery," the club added.

Eugene Asike's career at Tusker FC

Asike enjoyed an illustrious career with the Brewers, punctuated by two spells across six years.

During the period, the Kenyan international won two Premier League titles and one FKF Cup title.

Last season, he was named KPL's defender of the year after a string of good performances that helped Tusker win the domestic crown.

The experienced defender has since paid tribute to Tusker FC ahead of his imminent departure, describing his time at the club as "good."

"There have been ups and downs but looking back, the good memories overwhelm the bad memories. I have had a good time at the club and developed as a player," he noted.

Harambee Stars makes debut for Swedish top-flight side

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Frank Odhiambo's long wait to make his debut for Swedish top-tier side Djurgardens has finally come to an end.

A finger injury sustained just days after the transfer back in January is understood to have delayed the defender's bow.

The teenage sensation made his debut for his new side as a second-half substitute against FC Honka in a pre-season friendly.
