  • Everton are now one point above the relegation zone after another uninspiring loss in the Premier League against Burnley
  • Frank Lampard's team threw away a golden opportunity to stir clear off relegation waters but lost 3-2 to a ruthless Burnley team
  • Everton are now considered favourites to finish in the relegation zone as they still have tough games against top EPL teams

Everton suffered an unceremonious defeat against fellow relegation battlers, Burnley 3-2, to further dampen their chances of playing topflight football next season.

The Toffees needed a victory against Sean Dyche's men to stir clear of the relegation zone, but some disastrous defending led to the 4th defeat in 5 games for Frank Lampard's team.

Two goals from Richarlison had given Everton some respite as they led Burnley 2-1 at half-time, but Jay Rodriguez's equalizer and a late Maxwell Cornet strike sealed one of Burnley's most important wins of the season.

According to a report via Sports Bible, Everton faces an incredibly tough run of games that will determine their survival or relegation from the Premier League.

The Toffees will next face Manchester United on Saturday, April 9, before hosting Leicester City and next face Liverpool, Chelsea, Brentford and Arsenal.

Everton presently has 25 points after 29 matches played and are just a point above Burnley with the same number of games played.

Lampard believes Everton can survive relegation

Meanwhile, Everton manager, Frank Lampard has not given up hope of his team's chances of beating the drop in the English Premier League.

According to the Mirror, Lampard insists the Toffees will need to work and fight if they have to stay up and play in the EPL next season.

The former Chelsea coach however believes he is not under intense pressure at Goodison Park as many had suggested but will do his best to save Everton from relegation.

Struggling Everton post £120m losses

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Everton recorded losses of £120.9 million in the last financial year, but are set to avoid being held in breach of profit and sustainability rules.

Figures released for the year ending June 2021 showed Everton were badly hit by another season impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Everton's losses over the last three years amount to £371.8 million, with Premier League rules stating a club is in breach of financial regulations if they make an adjusted loss of more than £105 million over a three-year period.
