South African sports fans have already started planning for life back in stadiums.
Last night, President Cyril Ramaphosa made a sweeping announcement with regards to current lockdown regulations across the country. This included the increase in stadium capacity to a satisfying 50% as the State of Disaster, announced by the president in March 2020, nears its end.
The South African cricket fraternity was the first to pounce, with an announcement by SuperSport Park this morning that an extra 3 000 tickets had been made available for the One Day International between South African and Bangladesh in Centurion.
According to FARPost, the Premier Soccer League, on the other hand, said in a statement:
“The Executive Committee of the League is meeting on Monday 28 March, 2022 to consider the extent to which the League Covid 19 Regulations can or should be adapted. The existing protocols remain in place until varied by the Executive Committee.”
