Kenyan international Michael Olunga has won his first trophy in Qatar after he inspired Al-Duhail to the Amir Cup triumph.

Olunga's side set up a date with Al Gharafa for the final after seeing off newly-crowned Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd in the semis.

The former Gor Mahia forward was on target during the Monday, March 14, clash as Al-Duhail secured victory in a five-goal thriller.

How Al-Duhail sunk Al Gharafa in the final

Having eliminated Al Sadd in the semis, Al-Duhail had their work cut out when they took on Al Gharafa in the final.

The Luis Castro-tutored side kicked off the tie on a flying note, taking the lead inside five minutes of action via Edmilson Junior.

Olunga doubled the advantage in the 18th minute before Almoez Ali got his name on the scoresheet with the third goal in the 52nd minute.

Despite Ahmed Alaaeldin pulling one back for Al Gharafa a minute later, it was not enough to save them from defeat as Ferjani Sassi and Moustafa took the game beyond Andrea Stramaccioni's charges.

The victory was enough to earn Olunga his first trophy with Al-Duhail, a side he joined in January 2021 from Japan's Kashiwa Reysol.

Kenyan international scores on European debut

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Marjolen Nekesa opened her goal account for FC Minsk on her debut during the final of the Belarussian Women's Super Cup.

However, her goal was not enough from stopping her side from losing the Sunday, March 13, encounter.

An elated Nekesa later took to social media to celebrate her latest milestone, revealing she was grateful.
