Former Ghana international Michael Essien has waded into the debate over who the best player was asked to pick between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The debate for who the best is between Manchester United's Ronaldo and PSG's Messi continues to linger on, with several footballers having their opinions on the two rivals.

The Former Chelsea midfielder sums up the difference between both superstars who have now scooped 12 Ballon d’Or between themselves with Messi having seven 7 while Ronaldo has 5.

What did Essien say about both players?

Essien told Copa 90 USA:

"He's the best (Messi) but when you compare him & Ronaldo, for me Ronaldo is complete player. Messi is talented but he's only left footed. Ronaldo can jump, shoot, left right."

Meanwhile, Ghana's Kevin Prince-Boateng seems to have settled the argument after claiming Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world while Lionel Messi's ability is unmatched in the universe.

The German-born Ghanaian was emphatic in his decision, although he shared a dressing room with Messi at Barcelona.

"For a young player, Cristiano must be the best example, because he works hard, and he also has talent, of course," began the former Barça player, among many other teams," he said as quoted by Spanish tabloid, es.bessoccer.com.
