Liver Brothers Football Club (Mpumalanga)

ABC Motsepe League team, Liver Brothers will take on Premier Soccer League team, Sekhukhune United and need to show gall in order to pull off a monumental upset.

Amavarara (Eastern Cape)

Another team from the ABC Motsepe League outfit, Amavarara will be targeting DStv Premiership side, TS Galaxy's scalp. Though disputed, amavarara is sometimes used as a pejorative term for the working class but this remains up for debate.

Mathaithai FC (Free State)

The Free State-based ABC Motsepe side ought to be tricky to play again if they can be judged by their name. Mathaithai is a colloquial term across many of South Africa's languages for 'tricky customers' or 'ones who are prone to cheating'.

Dangerous Darkies (Mpumalanga)

They were part of SA football in two parts in the early 1990s, before they joined up with Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Powerlines FC (Northern Cape)

They were supposed to provide some electricity to the 2012 Nedbank Cup, but they badly short-circuited at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns, losing 0-24 in what instead seemed like a one-sided rugby game.

Sinenkani FC (Eastern Cape)

Sinenkani means we are daring, but the term also lends itself to foolish or measured bravery. Incidentally, they proved to have the pure nerve of eliminating much-more fancied Free State Stars in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.

Moeti gets moment of silence

The late, great John Moeti will be honoured by the Premier Soccer League during this week's round of Nedbank Cup matches.

'Dungi', a key part of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana teams in the mid-1990s, passed away at the age of 55 on Monday.

Moeti was part of the special group of footballers who were active players, back when the league was established in 1996.
