According to Times LIVE, Al Ahly beat Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal 4-0 to claim third place.

Yasser Ibrahim scored twice for the Egyptians while Ahmed Radwan and Amr El Solia also added to the scoreline. The win gave Al Ahly their second third place in a row, following up on their bronze medal win over Palmeiras last year.

Brazil’s Palmeiras played in this year’s final but were beaten by Chelsea.

Pitso’s performances with Al Ahly has caught the eye of numerous clubs and national teams who chased his signature and it earned Pitso a new contract offer from Al Ahly.

But the South African government has also sat up and taken notice of Pitso’s achievements.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation awarded Pitso with a special Sports Diplomacy award at the Ubuntu Awards.

Mosimane’s agency, MT Sports, accepted the award on his behalf and shared the news via Twitter about the coach’s latest achievement.

Shobeir, 61, who spent 17 glorious years at the Red Devils, says he has been made aware of a bumper new deal tabled for Mosimane to remain in Cairo. The new contract will reportedly see Mosimane earn up to $165,000 (R2 491 919) a month.

The length of the new deal is still unknown. Mosimane joined Ahly at the end of September 2020 and has had a successful tenure, winning the Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup and back-to-back CAF Champions League titles.
