  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal drought continues as the Manchester United striker has now failed to score in six consecutive games
  • Playing in front of their home fans, Manchester United dropped more PL points following a 1-1 draw with Southampton
  • Ronaldo was later captured spitting on Anthony Elanga right after the game and the footage has since gone viral

Footage showing Cristiano Ronaldo spitting on teammate Anthony Elanga following Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Southampton has continued to spread across the internet space, Football.London reports.

The Red Devils dropped more points at home as Southampton battled to a 1-1 draw in the early kick-off on Saturday, February 12.

As they did against Burnley, United took a first-half lead as Jadon Sancho benefited from a crisp Marcus Rashford cross after some good work from Bruno Fernandes.

Rashford escaped behind the Saints defence after a ball over the top from Fernandes, before picking out Sancho with a low cross for the former Borussia Dortmund man to grab his first league goal of the season.

United were eventually made to pay for failing to consolidate their lead as Southampton, who had shown glimpses of threat in the first half, found the equaliser before the teams could settle for the second period as it ended 1-1.

At the end of the encounter, a clip from BT Sport captured Ronaldo spotting while right behind Elanga who was oblivious of the situation.

Daily Mail claims some of the saliva from the 37-year-old seemingly landed his teammates' shirt as Ronaldo’s worst goal drought in club football continues.

The Portuguese sensation Ronaldo has failed to score for the sixth consecutive game as the result left United fifth on the Premier League table, level on points with West Ham United and seven points behind third-placed Chelsea.

Ronaldo set for showdown talks with Man Utd

Sports Brief earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to hold showdown talks with his agent Jorge Mendes, with an exit from Manchester United a real possibility.

The Portuguese superstar has reportedly become disillusioned at Old Trafford and is open to leaving the club just one season after his dream return.

The 37-year-old wants to meet with his agent in Portugal during the international break in March to iron out details about his future.

Ronaldo is seriously considering his future at Manchester United as he ponders on who the next manager at the club would be.
