Tottenham kept their hopes of silverware this season alive with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

Harry Kane scored twice as Antonio Conte’s side completely outclassed their opponents at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Saturday.

The England international curled in the opener in the 13th minute before Spurs doubled their lead less than 10 minutes later when Emerson Royal’s cross came off Solly March in what was a cruel deflection to loop into the back of the net.

Yves Bissouma managed to half the deficit in the second half with a deflected strike, but Harry Kane made sure of the result with his second goal of the night.

Brighton should have at least made it 3-2 but Neil Maupay wasted a great chance after finding himself in a one on one situation but his tame shot went straight to Hugo Lloris.

In the end, the Seagulls were second best for most of the game as Spurs advanced to the last 16 of the competition.

Conte’s wads march on

It was a win that was reflective of the impressive work that Antonio Conte has done since taking charge of Tottenham from Nuno Espirito Santo a couple of months ago.

Spurs have a genuine shout at silverware this season, while in the league, Conte has managed to get them from mid table, to being in contention for a Champions League place.

Harry Kane was the first to admit that Conte has certainly changed the team for the better since he took charge.

"He he has been brilliant," Kane said as quoted by BBC.
"I cannot speak highly enough of him and he has really changed the mindset of the team. We have to keep working hard on and off the pitch."

Man City, Chelsea all win to proceed to FA Cup fifth round

In the other games involving big Premier League sides, Manchester City were comprehensive 4-1 winners against Fulham, with Riyad Mahrez bagging a brace to help his team come from behind to secure victory.

For Chelsea, they needed extra time to beat League One side Plymouth, who also took a shock lead in the first half.

Ceasar Azpilicueta restored parity before halftime and Marcos Alsonso turned the game on its head in extra time.

Keeper Kepa Arizabalaga was the hero of the day as he save a penalty from Ryan Hardie to help his side avoid a penalty shootout.
