FootballPremier League: Supercomputer Predicts Final Standings as Season Hots Up
- With Manchester City in a pole position to retain the EPL title, attention is shifting to the top four race
- Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West ham, and Arsenal are all eyeing a Champions League slot
- Football boffins are backing Tottenham to pip the Red Devils and Arsenal to the top-four finish after their decent January transfer window
A supercomputer has predicted the final Premier League standings as the 2021/22 campaign enters a critical stage.
Man City are currently topping the standings and look set to retain the Premier League title.
Liverpool and Chelsea make up the top three teams, with the fourth spot up for grabs.
Attention is now expected to shift to the battle for the top four, with Man United, Arsenal, West Ham, and Tottenham are all in a pole position to secure the final place for the Champions League.
Top-four race hotting up
The Sun, citing SBK's supercomputer had previously backed United to seal the spot, but their failure to make any signings in January has seen them fall behind in the race.
Football boffins have predicted the Red Devils will now have to contend with a fifth-place finish, with Tottenham pipping them into fourth.
The algorithm tips Arsenal to finish in sixth, in a scenario that will see them miss out on an appearance in Europe's elite competition once again.
Wolves, Leicester, Brighton, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace have been backed to follow in that order, with Everton managing a 14th-place finish under new boss, Frank Lampard.
On the other end of the table, moneybags Newcastle can afford a smile as they are predicted to beat the drop.
However, it is bad news for Watford who have been backed to get relegated alongside Norwich and Burnley.
