CAF Slaps Egypt With Huge Fine Ahead of Their 2021 AFCON Semifinal Clash Against Cameroon

  • This is because of their failure to attend press conference before their quarterfinal final game against Morocco
  • Mohamed Salah and his teammates were impressive in the game winning 2-1 to set up semifinal tie with Cameroon

Following their failure to honor press conference ahead of their AFCON 2021 quarter-final clash with Morocco, Egyptian Football Federation have been fined $100,000 which is N41.5million by CAF disciplinary committee.

The CAF's disciplinary committee were livid with what the Egypt FA did and therefore imposed a fine on them ahead of their semifinal clash against Cameroon.

According to the report on Complete Sports and EuroSport, CAF issued a statement on the fine slapped on Egypt telling them to pay the money before their next game.

CAF's statement on Egypt's AFCON fine

''CAF Disciplinary Board has imposed a fine of 100 000 USD, with 50 000 suspended, to the Egypt Football Association (EFA) for breaching CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 media protocols and directives.
“This is after Egypt FA failed to honour a media press conference on 29 January 2022 ahead of their match against Morocco in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium which is part of the obligations for all the participating teams.''

Egypt will face the biggest battle of their campaign so far at the ongoing AFCON as they will face Cameroon who has been tipped to win the title.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Tom Saintfiet who is the gaffer of Gambia national team has stated clearly that the Cameroonian senior side have the quality to win the ongoing African Cup of Nations on their home soil.

This comes hours after Gambia were beaten 2-0 by Cameroon in the quarterfinal of the 2021 African Cup of Nations with Karl Ekambi netting the two goals for the Indomitable Lions.

There is no doubt about the fact that Cameroon have been superb so far in this tournament and they are one of the favorites to win the prestigious title.

In their history, the Indomitable Lions have won the AFCON title five times and Cameroonian people are also clamoring for the players to win the title again.
