Harambee Stars defender Frank Odhiambo has sealed a dream move to Swedish top-tier side, Djurgardens IF.

Djurgardens confirmed the signing of Odhiambo from Gor Mahia on Wednesday, January 19.

"It continues to blow nice winds in through the blue-striped transfer window and now another exciting name joins DIF when 19-year-old Kenyan midfielder Frank Odhiambo signs for the next five years," the club said in a statement posted on their website.

Speaking on the transfer, Odhiambo revealed Michael Olunga, who plied his trade with Djurgarden advised him to join the Swedish side.

"Michael gave me a lot of good advice and he told me that it was a fantastic association that has a good philosophy and incredible supporters. Another big reason why I chose Djurgarden was that I hope to be able to follow in Olunga's footsteps so that I can develop into an even better player in that environment," Odhiambo divulged.

The flourishing defender further revealed a number of clubs from France, Belgium, and Lithuania had approached him over a potential move but eventually settled on Djurgardens.

"I had many different clubs that offered contracts so I sat down and discussed with my agent what was best," he added.

The teenage sensation also underscored his desire to continue proving his credentials once he pulls on the Djurgardens kit.

Henry Meja seals dream Sweden move

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Swedish club AIK Fotboll have finally unveiled Kenyan striker Henry Atola "Meja" who they signed from Tusker FC back in September 2021.

After a four-month wait, the youngster was finally able to land in Sweden to link up with his new side on Thursday, January 6.

Meja, who will don the no.30 shirt had his first training with his new side on Monday, January 10.
