The Italian legend played for Juve between 1993 and 2012, averaging 0.39 goals per league game. He also netted 27 times in 91 games for the national football team from 1995 to 2008.

Giuseppe Signori played for four clubs (Foggia, Lazio, Sampdoria, and Bologna) between 1991 and 2004. Hamrin played for Juventus, Padova, Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Napoli between 1956-1971, averaging 0.48 goals per Serie A match. He managed 150 goals in 289 matches for Fiorentina (1958-1967), and nine in 36 games for AC Milan (1967-1969).

Retired footballer Antonio Di Natale won the Serie A top scorer award twice consecutively in the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. Antonio scored 209 goals in 445 Serie A matches from 2002 to 2016, while playing for Empoli and Udinese. He averaged 0.49 goals per match. The legendary striker scored 49 times in 158 matches for Empoli (1996-2004) and 185 in 350 games for Udinese (2004-2016).

Jose is a retired Italian-Brazilian footballer who held the record for most goals in a single European Cup before Lionel Messi broke it. Altafini scored 216 times in 459 league games between 1958-1976 and averaged 0.47 goals per Serie A match. He played for AC Milan, Napoli, and Juventus. Interestingly, The former forward played for Brazil and the Italian national football teams in his international career.

4. Giuseppe Meazza

Giuseppe 'Peppino' Meazza, nicknamed il Balilla, led Italy to two FIFA World Cup titles (1934 and 1938) and won the Golden Ball in 1934. He also found the back of the net 216 times in 367 Serie A games, while playing for Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus between 1929 and 1947. Gunnar Nordahl is a Swedish retired footballer and one of the famous Serie A top goalscorers of all time. He won two Scudetto titles and five top-scorer awards in his club career. Nordahl scored 225 goals in 291 league appearances for AC Milan and Roma. He has an average of 0.77 goals per league game. Internationally, he bagged 43 goals in 33 matches for the Swedish national team between 1942 and 1948.

2. Francesco Totti

Totti won five Italian Footballer of the Year awards and two Serie A Footballer of the Year titles. Besides, he also managed to score nine times in 58 international appearances for the Azzurri between 1998 and 2006.

Legendary Italian forward Silvio Piola holds the record of the best scorer in the league, with 274 goals in 537 Italian Serie A games. The record has stood for over six decades and is likely to stand for more years.

Piola is widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation. He averaged 0.51 goals per match in the league while playing for Pro Vercelli, Lazio, Juventus, and Novara. The legendary goal poacher managed 143 goals in 227 matches for Lazio (1934-1943), and 26 goals in 57 matches for Juventus (1945-1947). He also scored 30 times in 34 matches for the Italian football team between 1935 and 1952.

All-time top scorer in Serie A in a season

Ciro Immobile, Gonzalo Higuain, and Gino Rossetti are the leading top scorers in Serie A by season with 36 goals. Rossetti was the first to score 36 times in a league season while playing for Torino during the 1928-29 campaign. Former Argentine forward Higuain equalled the record in the 2015-16 season with Napoli. Italian star Immobile also managed to score 36 times during the 2019-20 season with Lazio.
