The notion of bigger is better has held true since the inception of professional wrestling, and the WWE has signed some of the super-heavyweights to their label. The average WWE wrestler is 6 ft 3.2 in or 191 cm tall and weighs 274.06 lbs or 124.3 kg, but there have been those who have gone over and beyond these measurements. But who is at the peak of this mountain of men?

The tallest WWE wrestlers

With most of the tallest wrestlers growing to heights beyond 7ft, it is not uncommon to question whether this notion is normal. The answer is no, as most of these athletes suffer from gigantism or acromegaly. They however used the condition to their advantage and made a career from it. Here are the ten tallest wrestlers in the WWE.

10. Big Cass

6 ft 10 in or 208 cm tall William Morrissey was with the WWE from June 2011, being part of a tag team with Enzo Amore, till he was fired in June 2018. He cited depression, anxiety, and alcohol addiction as the factors that led to the loss of his job, and almost his life. He has since turned his life around, improved his physique to weigh 276 lb or 125 kg, and currently performs under the name Big Bill with the All Elite Wrestling company.

9. Kurrgan

Wrestling promotions have been enamoured with participant sizes, so the WWE signed Robert Maillet, hoping his career would be a success, but that was not to be. With a billed weight of 350 lb or 160 kg and a height of 7 ft or 210 cm, Kurrgan was expected to be a ring champ, but he had a short career due to creative differences with developers. He went on to find his niche as an actor, appearing in films like The Big Bang, Monster Brawl, Percy Jackson’s: Sea of Monsters, and Deadpool 2.

8. Kane

Glenn Thomas Jacobs had a passion for his ring persona and dominance, making him a renowned 90s wrestler who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. The 7 ft or 213 cm tall American weighing 323 lb or 147 kg currently serves as the Republican mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Paul Wight is best known for his time in the WWE between 1999 to 2021 under the name the Big Show. Due to his large frame, weighing 500 lb or 230 kg and being 7 ft 2 in or 218 cm tall, he was initially introduced as the son of Andre the Giant, which unfortunately was caused by a pituitary gland disorder called acromegaly. He holds several honours and accolades from his days in the ring, and more recognition from acting gigs since the 90s.

6. The Yeti

Ronald Allen Reis's short WWE career involved several gimmicks and character revamps between 1995 and 1998. His 7 ft 2 in or 218 cm frame and weight of 365 lb or 166 kg gave him an upper hand in his collegiate basketball career, till Big John Studd spotted him and offered to train him as a professional wrestler.

5. Giant Silva

Paulo Cesar da Silva is an all-around athlete, playing basketball, wrestling, and MMA. He stood at 2.18 m or 7 ft 2 in and weighed 159 kg or 351 lb during his two-year stint with the WWE between 1997 and 1999. He was often teamed with Gorga or Kurrgan as a cornerman for the Oddities.

4. The Great Khali

The Indian Giant was unstoppable during his tenure in the WWE between 2006 and 2018 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Prior to his wrestling career, Dalip Singh Rana worked with the Punjab police force, a platform that got him recognition and a chance to train in the USA. At 2.21 m or 7 ft 3 in tall and weighing 190 kg or 420 lb, Khali is a gentle giant, who is said to be extremely religious and disciplined.

3. Omos

This 28-year-old Nigerian athlete is the youngest and only African to make this list. He weighs 403 lb or 183 kg and is 7 ft 3 in or 221 cm tall. Tolulope Omogbehin is a former collegiate basketballer turned pro wrestler for the WWE since 2019. He debuted on Monday Night Raw in June 2020 as a part of Akira Tozawa's Ninja group, with the commentators dubbing him the Giant Ninja. The sky seems to be the limit for this goliath's career, no pun intended!

2. Andre The Giant

Andre Rene Roussimoff had a cult following owing to his weight of 520 lb or 236 kg and height of 7 ft 4 in or 224 cm. Diagnosed with gigantism and acromegaly, Andre was regarded as the eighth wonder of the world. He began wrestling in Paris in the 60s before relocating to Canada. Vincent J. McMahon signed him with the WWWF and began using the moniker Andre the Giant. He was instrumental in shaping the Frenchman's wrestling trajectory by lending him to wrestling associations around the world.

He left after WrestleMania VI and performed mainly for All Japan Pro-Wrestling till his demise in 1993 of congestive heart failure. Roussimoff's legacy as one of the most legendary figures lives on, both as a professional wrestler and a pop culture icon.

1. Giant Gonzales

Jorge Gonzalez made his pro wrestling debut for ECW in 1990 as El Gigante. At 8 ft or 244 cm and weighing 460 lb or 209 kg, Gonzales became a fan favourite at a time when towering behemoths were the in thing. Prior to WCW, he had a brief NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks, who had to let him go after injuries hindered his game form. His WWE contract expired on 7 October 1993, after which he joined the New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Wrestle and Romance in Japan. He retired from wrestling in 1995 and returned home to Argentina, where he lived on a ranch till his death in 2010.

Who is the largest WWE wrestler?

In most instances, the taller a person is, the heavier they are. This theory holds true for the WWE's largest fighter, Omos. Following closely is Odyssey Jones, a 6 ft 5 in, 405 lb goliath ( 196 cm, 184 kg). Omari Jahi Palmer is a 28-year-old performer with NXT who ranks among the top ten heaviest performers.

Some people grow beyond what is regarded as normal, which is approximately 170 cm or 5ft 7in, which can either be genetic or a medical condition. The tallest WWE wrestlers have turned this enormous height to their advantage and made successful careers from it.
