10. Roy Keane (1993-2005)

The prototypical box-to-box midfielder was renowned for his fierce temper and clashes with Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira. Keane's effort against Juventus in the 1999 Champions League semi-final has already been dubbed one of the best individual performances.

6. Duncan Edwards (1953-58)

He could have played anywhere as one of the Busby Babes and was praised by his boss as 'the most complete player in Britain and probably the world'. However, he was most frequently spotted at left half-back. Nevertheless, he is one of Man United's legendary defenders.

5. Paul Scholes (1991-2013)

Fergie was so impressed that he brought him out of retirement to attempt to halt City's march to the 2011-12 title. The King formed one-third of the Holy Trinity alongside Charlton and Best and refused to celebrate after scoring for City against United in 1974, a goal he thought relegated the Reds. Law is one of the biggest Manchester legends.

3. Bobby Charlton (1956-1973)

Nobody has scored more United goals than Sir Bobby's 249, and only Ryan Giggs has made more appearances than Sir Bobby's 758.

He scored the winning goal in extra time in the 1968 European Cup final against Benfica, capping a year in which he was awarded UEFA's Ballon d'Or.

1. Ryan Giggs (1987-2014)

Although he is best remembered as a flying winger who ripped through Arsenal's defense in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay, he effectively altered his game to extend his career. He was appointed interim manager of United in 2014 and is presently in charge of Wales. This phenomenon makes him the most outstanding ex-Man United player.
