Having been placed in Group E along with Germany, Costa Rica and Spain, the 2022 Qatari event is their seventh successive finals. The 26-man squad has booked its showpiece event in Qatar relatively comfortably. So, who has the Japan boss picked for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar?

What is the age of Japan's world cup team?

Even though the national team has made it to the 2022 Qatari event, most fans need to be made aware of when the team was founded. Dubbed the "Samurai Blue", the national football team was founded in 1921 and later joined FIFA in May 1929.

Therefore, since its foundation, the team is 101 years old. In other words, Japan debuted on the football scene a century ago. They have made seven World Cup appearances since debuting.

Japan's World Cup squad 2022

Head coach Hajime has surprisingly left out big names from his 26-man squad, such as the likes of the Celtic duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate. But even though he left them out, he has other standout names that seem impressively ready and skilled enough for the challenge.

Japan's best performance at the World Cup on three consecutive occasions was reaching the Round of 16.

Goalkeepers

What is a football team without a sharp, keen goalie between the two poles? If there is one position Hajime is always keen about, it is the goalkeeping position. With the experienced custodian Eiji Kawashima emerging as one of the easy picks, Japan is optimistic about bringing the Cup home.
