The 2022 Germany World Cup squad was recently named, with manager Hansi Flick presenting a team that will hopefully redeem itself from the disappointment at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The lineup consists of a well-balanced crew to represent the country in Qatar, although some seasoned players will miss out due to injuries. Find out who made it to the team and who did not.

Germany will be making their 20th World Cup appearance since its debut, with four wins in the bag. They have qualified for every tournament since 1954 and have been champions in 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014. The German World Cup squad in 2022 will attempt to win the trophy for their country for the fifth time.

According to FIFA, the team currently ranks eleventh worldwide with 1650 points. The coach named his 26-man-squad on 10 November, shocking fans with his choices of interesting inclusions and exclusions.

Who didn't make the Germany squad in 2022?

Some of the most notable exclusions were Marco Reus and striker Timo Werner; both were excluded because of injuries. Florian Wirtz and Mats Hummels were also missing from Flick's lineup. However, Youssoufa Moukoko and Niclas Fullkrug seem to have what it takes to compensate for the absence of the bigwigs.

Is Neuer playing in the 2022 World Cup?

Goalie Manuel Neuer will be the main shot-stopper in Qatar, his fourth consecutive time at the World Cup. He has proven his skill and talent in 114 match appearances for the national team. After Bastian Schweinsteiger's retirement, Neuer took over as team captain of Die Mannschaft in 2016.

Will Marco Reus go to the World Cup?

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder will not play in Qatar because of an ankle injury; he did not recover in time for the tournament. His injuries have only accorded him 48 caps with the team, but he was still named the German Footballer of the Year twice.

Adidas provided the Germany 2022 home jersey, which combines a white base with black and metallic gold details. The German flag is on the collar and as a stripe along the sides to the bottom hem. Black or white shorts and white socks complete the ensemble.

In which group is Germany placed in the 2022 World Cup?

The team will play in Group E against Spain, Japan, and Costa Rica. Though they face stiff competition, they are likely to progress to the knockouts, given their resources and talents.

Hansi Flick took over the reins from Joachim Low, who resigned after the Euro 2020 competition. The 57-year-old manager was Low's assistant from 2006 to 2014. He signed a three-year-contract with Die Mannschaft in August 2021, and his team was the first to qualify for the World Cup.
