Los Angeles Lakers' owner

In 1979, Dr Jerry Buss, a real estate mogul, bought the team for about $67 million from Jack Kent Cooke. His ownership saw the team's image, size, financial returns, and performance increase exponentially. He is credited with establishing the concept of premium seating and the famous dance team, the Laker Girls.

After his death, he left the team's ownership to his six children, each with an 11% ownership stake. The current ownership is as follows:

  • Buss Family Trusts (majority)
  • Jeanie Buss (controlling owner)
  • Philip Anschutz, Edward P. Roski, and Patrick Soon-Shiong (minority)

The Los Angeles Lakers logo features a shiny gold basketball with the word "Lakers" written in purple and some cool speed lines. They have used this logo since way back in 1965 and changed the colours a few times. The latest change was in 2023 when they made the purple a lot darker.
