Abia Warriors Football Club's history

The club was founded in 2003 by the Abia State Government. Ten years after its birth, the club joined Nigeria's Professional Football League. According to the Professional Football League, the club has had a couple of name changes starting from the National Electric Power Authority to OUK Football Club and back to its current name.

The club is known for its transformative role in the lives of young talented footballers in the community. The Abia Warriors Academy trains young footballers in different age categories. The academy's graduates eventually advance to join the senior team or other teams in the league.

Some Abia Warriors FC's legends include the centre-forward Ndifkere Effiong and former national Olympics team defender Kingsley Chima Oluocha. Kingsley was also the team captain.
