He started his career at the youth academy of Chelsea in 2004 when he was eight years old. He played in the youth academy for ten years before finally joining the first team of Chelsea in 2014.
It had been a very long and often difficult journey for him. Still, he was so happy when he finally made his Premier League debut as a sub, aged 19 years and eight days, against Manchester City on 31 January 2015.
After having played for three seasons in the first team, he was getting increasingly upset with a lack of playing time, and thus, he was loaned out to Crystal Palace during the 2017-2018 season. At this London club, he finally clocked a lot of time on the pitch, and Chelsea felt it was time for him to come and play for the Blues again. Therefore, Ruben rejoined Chelsea in July 2021.
Loftus-Cheek was then loaned to Fulham for the remainder of the 2020-21 season, for whom he made 30 league appearances in total, scoring one goal.
The Chelsea midfielder had taken part in most of the team's Premier League games in 2021/2022, making 24 appearances overall and playing 1,386 minutes.
