After two years playing at Virginia Tech, Hooker made a graduate transfer to the University of Tennessee, where he has been playing since January 2021. Before joining the Vols squad, he had started in 15 games for Virginia Tech, scoring nine touchdowns with five interceptions and completing 98 out of 150 passes.
