Mike Trout's biography

Just as his nickname, The Millville Meteor, he was born in Vineland, New Jersey, on 7 August 1991 and brought up nearby Millville. He lived with his parents, Jeff and Debbie Trout, and his elder siblings, sister Teal and brother Tyler.

Going to high school, Trout attended Millville Senior Highschool, where he played baseball and basketball. He played as the pitcher and shortstop in his junior career but shifted to the outfield during his senior career, where he hit 18 home runs, a New Jersey high school record.

Millville initially planned to retire Mike's jersey number but began awarding it to the team captain in 2012.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected Mike as the 25th overall pick of the 2009 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. He played for the Arizona Angels of the rookie-level Arizona League, where Cody Decker beat him out of being AZL's Most Valuable Player (MVP).

He played for different Minor League teams before finally joining the Los Angeles Angels by replacing the injured Peter Bourjos in centre field. However, he continued switching from the Minor League to the Angels, pulling off impressive performances wherever he went.

In February 2014, Trout signed a one-year $1 million contract, the highest figure ever for a player not eligible for salary arbitration. A month later, on 28 March 2014, the Angels announced that they had signed him to a six-year, $144.5 million contract extension.

In the same year, Trout won the AL MVP unanimously, becoming the sixth player in MLB history to win both the Regular season and All-star MVP awards in the same season.

At the same time, he was the fifth-youngest MVP ever, the fifteenth to win unanimously, and the third in Angel's franchise history after Vladimir Guerrero in 2004.

In the 2016 season, Trout won his second AL MVP after finishing second in the voting the previous year.

In the 2019 season, he signed a 12-year, $426 million contract with the Angels, at the time, the richest contract in the history of Northern American sports. In the same season, Mike won the AL Hank Aaron award and was named AL MVP for the third time in his career. He joined Albert Pujols as the only active MLB player with three MVP awards.

During 2020, the pandemic's shortened season, he was hitting .281/.390/.603 with 17 home runs (tied for 4th) and 46 RBIs (6th) in 53 games.

The 2021 season was terrible for the All-star as he suffered a calf muscle injury that shut him down for the rest of the season. On his return, Trout was to move from centre field to a corner outfield spot while former top prospect Brandon Marsh would patrol centre field as he did during Mike's injured list stint in 2021.

Trout learned about the position swap through a Twitter post and was surprised by Angel's manager, Joe Maddon's decision. Unfortunately, all his efforts to move back to the centre field were in vain as the manager had his final decision.

However, this didn't stop the three-time MVP as he went on to perform incredibly well. On 21 May, he scored his 1000th run, becoming the 2nd player in Angel's history to score 1000 or more. In a five-game series against Seattle Mariners in the same season, Trout became the only player in the American or National League to hit four game-winning home runs during a series while becoming the fifth Angel player (and his second time) to hit five home runs in a series.

However, the season didn't get any better after Mike went on the injured list after suffering a rare back disorder called costovertebral dysfunction which sadly may affect the rest of his career.

He started at centre field and hit second in the lineup behind two-way star Shohei Ohtani.
