He made his La Liga debut with the team on 25th August 2019 as a late-game substitute for goal scorer Carles Pérez.

International career

Initially, Anssumane was eligible to represent Guinea-Bissau at the international level. However, he did not. After making his La Liga debut, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) showed interest in him.

The Spanish government then set its sights on granting him citizenship. He was granted citizenship in September 2019 and was called up to the Spain under-21 team on 11th October 2019. On 20th August 2020, he received his first call to the full Spain squad.

On 11th November 2022, it was announced that the footballer was listed in Spain's 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. He played two games as a substitute.
