  • South African cricket fans are worse than unimpressed by the Proteas' showing in the recent One Day International series against Bangladesh
  • Having secured their first ever win against the Proteas on African soil, the Tigers went one better by winning the historic series
  • The loss jeopardised South Africa's chances of qualifying for the 2023 Cricket World Cup automatically

To say that South African cricket fans were annoyed today is an understatement.

They had to swallow the fact that Bangladesh won a maiden series, a magnificent 2-1 victory in the one day internationals.

Many took to social media to vent their frustrations and fire criticism in the direction of those they feel were responsible for the catastrophic defeat, whether it be players, management or South African cricket administrators.

Sticks Nxuba said:

"Proteas competing with Bafana Bafana with being useless, and they want us to keep Boucher with his uselessness."

Jacob Motsetsa said:

"Coach needs to go as in yesterday."

Caleb Moyce said:

"Politically correct, competitively inept - the team which played yesterday should be ashamed especially the batters, throwing away their wickets, felt like I was watching village cricket - We could have used this opportunity to blood young players like Stubbs but no, we go with the same old players who are jetting off to IPL, this team needs focus and senior players to lead from the front.

Christopher Leigh said:

"Decision making has been shocking through this series, 2nd ODI fast bowlers were dominating, fair enough Parnell got injured, but once you see batter get comfortable surely it makes sense to bring fast bowlers back even if it is for 2 overs. We have no adaptability"

Bal Cay said:

"Those ones are serial disappointments. The Boks are the only serious team in SA."

Rampant Bangladesh Tigers make history by defeating embarrassed Proteas in ODI series

A brilliant all-round performance from Bangladesh saw them power to a thumping nine-wicket win over the Proteas in the deciding ODI at SuperSport Park in Centurion to claim a historic first-ever ODI series win over the hosts in South Africa.

Having been set just 155 to win the third and final Betway ODI, the visitors were led from the front by captain Tamim Iqbal who struck an unbeaten 87 off 82 balls, striking 14 boundaries, as they cruised to the target with a massive 23.3 overs to spare, giving them a 2-1 series win.
