  • Deontay Wilder has blasted those managing Anthony Joshua, saying they did everything to avoid him
  • The Bronze Bomber and AJ were billed on the cards before Joshua went on to fight Oleksandr Usyk
  • Wilder stated that pundits and professionals had picked him to win the bout should both of them take on each other

American boxer Deontay Wilder has suggested that Anthony Joshua and his team did everything possible to avoid a showdown with him.

Wilder also seems upset with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, saying all was done to prevent a fight between him and Joshua from happening.

AJ, who lost all his heavyweight title belts to Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021, was again defeated in their rematch on August 20.

Wilder, who has been out of the ring since being stopped a second time by current WBC king Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) in their trilogy showdown last October, said via Boxing Social:

“Everybody picked me to beat Joshua, and that’s the reason why they didn’t want to make the fight before.
“That was the reason why they took me on a six-month rollercoaster because they did everything to avoid the fight [with me]. They did not want to fight.
“Fast forward years and now we’re seeing it [the Joshua team wanting to make the fight with Wilder]. We’ll see [if it happens] because we ain’t bullsh**ting.”

Joshua disappointed after losing to Usyk

Meanwhile, Joshua has expressed disappointment at himself following his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch over the weekend.

Moments after the loss to the champion, AJ managed to grab the mic and spilt some words, as many believe he seemed intoxicated.

However, Usyk was announced the winner by split decision after two of the judges scored the fight for the champion with scores of 115-113 Joshua, 115-113 Usyk, and 116-112 Usyk.

Leon Edwards defeats Kamaru Usman in UFC 278

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kamaru Usman failed to defend his welterweight title in a rematch against Leon Edwards.

The desperate Edwards produced a stunning last-gasp head-kick KO to win the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 278.

This came seven years after both fighters clashed, and in the early exchanges, Usman wasted no time in taking Edwards down as the fight got underway.

In the third round, Joshua dominated his opponent on the mat as he landed a flurry of strikes.
