Sprint legend, Asafa Powell has expressed disappointment in the lack of sports facilities for athletes in Ghana.

The multiple Olympic gold medalist has been in the African country with his wife for a short visit.

During his time in the West African nation, the Jamaican identified the lack of professional sports tracks as one of the reasons for the country's failure at competitions.

Powell began by expressing his disappointment in Ghana.

“To be honest, I’m very disappointed because you guys have had excellent sprinters back in the days. I remember competing against Aziz Zakari. He was one of those athletes I was scared of whenever I go to the track. He was one of the great sprinters," he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV.

He also stated that the west African country needed to improve in terms of its athletics facilities.

"I remember Ghana have had great athletes like Zakari but I’m very disappointed coming here and not seeing professional tracks. What if I wanted to go for a workout?" he added.

Powell twice held the record for 100-metre sprint before he was dethroned by countryman, Usain Bolt.

Asafa Powell arrives in Ghana

Sports Brief previously reported on former world's fastest man, Powell arriving in Ghana for a visit to the West African nation.

The sprint legend was given a rapturous welcome at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra as fans waited to meet the Jamaican.

Powell was received by high-ranking members of the Ghana Athletics Association and will be in the country to share his experience.

Asamoah Gyan meets Asafa Powell

Sports Brief also reported on two legends of their respective sports, Powell meeting Asamoah Gyan during his visit to Ghana.

The Jamaican sprint legend is in the country on a visit but took time out of his schedule to meet the Black Stars legend.

Power and Gyan shared a few moments together in west Africa and part of their chatting was about football and athletics.
