Faith Kipyegon misses out

Faith Kipyegon wasn't as lucky in the women's category. The World and Olympic 1500 meters champion was nominated in an earlier list of 10 athletes but missed out on the final list.

Kipyegon had another impressive year after she became a double world champion after her exploits in Oregon. Her only misdoing was that other female athletes understandably had better seasons than her. er race in Monaco, where she almost broke the World record, could have titled the tie in her favour.

Female category

In her place, Nigerian sprint sensation Tobi Amusan and 400 meters champion Sydney McLaughlin were nominated among others.

Sports Brief had reported that following her record-breaking feat during the course of the year, incredible Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has made the Women's 2022 World Athlete Award final list.

During the World Athletics Championships, the 25-year-old shocked the globe by setting a new world record in the women's 100m hurdles.

The Commonwealth gold medalist has been named among the five finalists for the prestigious international award, according to a statement released by World Athletics on Monday.

Other nominees are Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Triple Jump World Champion Yulimar Rojas and Race Walk Champion Kimberly Garcia.
