Chioma Onyekwere Wins Gold For Team Nigeria at 2022 Commonwealth Games

Chioma Onyekwere has recorded her name in the history books by becoming the first Nigerian to win gold in the Discus Throw event at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth games in UK.

The 28-year-old threw 61.70m in her fourth attempt to take the lead from the home girl, Jade Lally who led from the start of the competition with her opening throw of 57.33m.

Her success in the Discus Throw has made Nigerians happy and many have been congratulating the American-born Nigerian star for her incredible achievement.

Team Nigeria made further history by producing two medallists in the Discus Throw event for the first time with Obiageri Amaechi winning the bronze medal with her 56.99m fifth round effort.

Speaking to Sports Brief, Kola Daniel who is the SA Media to Nigeria's Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, expressed happiness over the achievement of Chioma.
