Nigeria ended as 13th best nation on the medals' table in the 2022 World Athletes Championship which occurred in Oregon, United States in which 43 nations participated.

This is not a bad achievement for the Nigerian contingent considering the fact of how Tobi Amusan made the nation proud by winning gold in the 100 meter.

In fact, Tobi Amusan broke record in the semifinal when she finished her race in 12 seconds thereby becoming the first African to win gold at the World Athletes Championship.

According to the report on Punch, Team Nigeria would go on to celebrate another podium finish in the long jump with Ese Brume’s extraordinary effort.

The Commonwealth and African record-holder long jumper leapt over 7.02m to clinch the silver medal, behind rival Malika Mihambo of Germany, who jumped a record 7.12m for the gold medal.

Speaking to Sports Brief on the success of Tobi Amusan, SA Media to Sports Minister, Kola Daniel, explained that the whole world are happy with her record and not only Nigerians.

''You can see that even the white people were celebrating Tobi Amusan which is a great one as she has changed the face of athletes in the country and others should build on this and also make names for themselves.''

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how a fan inside the Hayward Field stadium in the northwest United States was so excited to celebrate Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan who won the Women’s 100m Hurdles.

The 25-year-old Nigerian sprinter stunned fans inside the University of Oregon in Eugene campus on the last day of the World Athletics Championships.

Tobi completed a 12.05 seconds race in the final to smash her personal best as well as the world record to win gold.

Moments after winning the race, Amusan ran towards a section of the stands where fans were excited to see her clinch gold.

One of them quickly increased the volume of his phone as the sound of Kizz Daniel’s trending song ‘Buga’ blasted through the speakers.
