Jacob Krop strikes silver for Kenya in Men’s 5,000 metres as Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins gold

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Jacob Krop bagged silver for Team Kenya in the men's 5,000 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Krop had to settle for second place despite the Kenyans leading a wonderful race for long periods of time. Olympic 1,500 metres champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen who upgraded to the longer races, crossed the line first to win his first gold of this year's championships.

Ingebrigtsen was still reeling from the disappointment of missing gold in his 1,500 metres speciality last week when he finished second behind the eventual winner, Jake Wightman.

But he was not to be denied this time around, taking charge of the race with two laps to go. It was a race complete with stars, with the defending champion Muktar Edris looking to win three world titles.
