Ghana's Joseph Amoah Breaks 200m Indoor National Record

Ghanaian sprinter, Joseph Amoah, has broken the 200m indoor national record 2022 Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite.

The 25-year-old shattered the Ghana 200m indoor national with a time of 20.57 seconds in the final to win the men’s race at Boston, MA. Another Ghanaian sensational sprinter Owusu-Antwi Martin also placed third in 21.44 seconds.

Amoah's remarkable time is ranked number 1 in Africa and 5th in the world as of February 5th, 2022.

He now holds three (3) national records: indoor 200 metres, outdoor 200 metres, and 4 x 100 metres relay.

Amoah showed his excitement after setting the national record with a tweet: "Thank you God, for a healthy race #NationalRecord ✅"

Amoah, who captained Ghana's athletics team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in Japan, will hope to make a bigger impact this year following a decent 2021.

With the World Championships to come in Eugene, USA in July and the Commonwealth Games to follow immediately after that, 2022 is set to be a big year for the former Prempeh College student.

Meanwhile, another Ghanaian sensational sprinter Owusu-Antwi Martin also placed third in 21.44 seconds.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Azamati OLY, started his 2022 indoor season with a continental (Africa) leading 6.54 secs in the 60m finals at the 2022 NM Collegiate Classic.

Azamati's time ranks him as the 3rd fastest Ghanaian ever in the 60m behind Leo Leonard Myles-Mills (6.45 secs [African Record]) and Eric Nkansah (6.51 secs).
