The nation's government formed a soccer association in Ghana in 1920 to offer regulations and assist in decision-making because soccer was rampant and developing a squad was very difficult. Afcon Campaign

Black Stars have won the Africa Cup of Nations four times in 1963, 1965, 1978, and 1982. They reached the tournament's finals five times in 1968, 1970, 1992, 2010, and 2015. Their domination of the Afcon tournament also contributed to their nickname "The Black Stars of Africa" in the 1960s.

Is Ghana playing in Afcon 2021/2022?

The Black Stars have proved their skill worth by successfully winning the African Cup of Nations and being the runners-up four and five times respectively. Even though it has been a long trophy drought for them, they have successfully appeared and participated seven times in the previous 18 Afcon final matches. Their best performance was in 2015 when they finished second.

In 2021, however, the four-time Afcon champions' tournament winning gap was narrowed after an improbable departure from the group stage in Cameroon, where they failed to win any of their three matches.
